Nnimmo Bassey

Nnimmo Bassey is an environmental activist, civil rights activist and poet from Nigeria. He was awarded with the Alternative Nobel Prize for exposing the environmental and human horrors of oil exploration. Moreover, he was acknowledged for his inspiring work in strengthening the environmental movement in Nigeria and around the world. His tireless work with national and international organizations has made him one of Africa’s leading advocates and campaigners for the environment and human rights. Bassey has campaigned against the practices of multinational corporations in his country and the environmental devastation they leave behind since they destroy the lives of local people and disregard their rights.

 

 

In November 2022, Nnimmo Bassey participated in the ‚PLURIVERSUM‘ program as a virtual guest speaker.
