Ahmad Mahmoud is a Sudanese filmmaker and cultural worker based in Berlin. He creates documentary and narrative films for international and local NGOs in Sudan, focusing on social movements, migration, memory, and the political power of images. Shaped by his own biography as a political activist and former refugee, he closely connects artistic practice with political engagement. Mahmoud understands film as a tool of resistance and as a means to make social struggles visible and to support progressive change in Sudan. His experiences of exile, repression, and revolution inform his perspective on migration and the role of media in political struggles.

“History has shown that defeat happens when the people lose their grip on their narrative — it is therefore a great motivation for me to continue my work as a filmmaker, as film is one of the most powerful tools to shape the stories fuelling the struggle for a better life and better world.”
